From the August 1953 issue of Popular Mechanics comes this brilliant method of getting your kids some fresh air. Screw going to the park, just hang them out the window.

Ah, the ’50s. A time of innocence, lead paint, and asbestos.
How did anyone survive with stuff like this?
actually that would have been a good idea.. just a day ago some baby fell out of a open window.. come on…and a frickin’ post officer saw the baby and caught the squirt..
I love the wire netting that prevents the kids from climbing back IN the apartment hahaha.
That looks like fun. I can picture me as a small child… pushing toys out the bars to hit passing pedestrians below… pretending to be a monkey in a cage… jumping up and down to make it bounce… trying to get sparrows to perch on the wires for a crust of bread. This would have been cool. Health and Safety laws and the Nanny state have ruined childhood for so many *sigh*.
thats so stupid a baby can fall out the porch
O my gosh, I dont think I would have used that back then even if it was legal. I think the netting that keeps them from coming back in the room is also bad. lol “I need to do my house work, so Im going to dangle my kids from a high building.”
This makes no sense.
Haha, I think this is funny. I just can’t stop laughing about the netting making them stay outside. If it actually had a solid bottom and maybe was a little bigger, it wouldn’t be a bad idea for the 50s.
