   some places have a real problem with thieves stealing purses from the hooks in bathrooms when ladies put them there- they’re on the toilet, so they can’t exactly chase after them! i think the top sign is a general word of warning to ladies, to not use the top hooks provided in public toilets.

   Instead of manufacturing and screwing in the new warning sign, why didn’t they just take off the old sign/hook?

   Yeah, there’s probably a hook above the first sign, near the top of the door, useful for hanging jackets. The lower hook was added specifically for purses, where they can’t be grabbed from over the top of the door.

   yes, but in stalls where the hook is at the top, people could still reach over and grab whatever is hanging off it! i suppose this way, your purses are more out of reach.
