Old School Kindle

March 5, 2008

Amazon Kindle

None of this fancy, easy to use Ebook reading for us back in the ’80s. No, this is what we had to put up with:

Old School Kindle

Yeah, we were hard. Our electronic books were actually … book sized. Not too portable either, what with being hooked up to your Color Computer 2. And as far as choice went, you could read anything you wanted as long as it was one of the six educational software packages that Radio Shack was generous enough to offer. “Maze Master” was choice, let me tell you.

The top pic is terrible picture of the Kindle. The Kindle isn’t that color at all–it looks way better. Maybe you should visit Amazon and swipe one of their recent pics. But back to the point of the article, very funny!!

In fact, I am going to use that radio shack ad for my Kindle’s screen saver! Cool!

My first computer was a Tandy Color Computer 3. I didn’t have any of the cool add ons though. Just a cassette drive. I wrote my own games in BASIC and saved them to the cassette. Awesome to see one again.
