    I am stunned that no one has mentioned this being an obvious take on thge Dmitri Vrubel’s Bruderkuss Berlin Wall mural of Leonid Brezhnev and Eric Honecker kissing. This mural, although heavily graffitied still stands in the remnants of the wall preserves in the “East Gallery”. See, for example:
