I don’t get it…
irony?
I guess its funny because the sign is in the middle of the bike lane?
The “Watch For Bikes” sign is blocking the bike lane?
The sign is in the bike lane … its blocking the bikes so they have to ride on the road … irony …
Wow. How hard is it to get. The sign saying “watch for bike” is in the bike lane.
The sign is taking up the entire bike lane.
It’s in the bike lane, blocking the very bike traffic that it’s announcing.
The sign is blocking the bike lane forcing bikes closer to traffic?
The sign is actually **in** the bike lane. It’s a hindrance to any bike riders who might come along.
It’s funny because the sign is in the bike lane therefore forcing the cyclists into the road.
The sign is right in the path the bike riders are supposed to take.
This is funny because the sign is located in the bike lane.
The sign is blocking the bike lane.
^^^ It’s blocking the bike lane..
Sign’s in the bike lane.
The sign is in the bike lane, which forces bikers closer to the road, which is the purpose the sign exists, to warn drivers. It’s ironic humor at it’s finest.
ah… the sign is smack in the middle of the bike lane… funny…
The sign is in the bike lane. Blocking bike traffic.
Ummm, Mom the sign is in the middle of the bike path. This forces the bike riders to go around the sign and into traffic.
Dad
It’s in the bike lane moron.
It’s in the bike lane… the cars only have to watch for bikes because bikes must swerve to avoid the “watch for bikes” sign.
(The very sign meant to protect bicyclist in traffic is blocking the bike lane, forcing them into traffic)
its right on the bike lane ..effectively in the way of bikers
The ‘watch for bikes’ sign is in the BIKE lane, causing an inconvenience to riders, and subjecting them to even further risk.
They put a “watch for bikes” sign right in the bike lane. so now the bikes have to go closer to the road.
If they had a huge sign blocking the whole road that said “watch for cars” you’d probably get it.
Hey Yourmom, the “Watch for Bikes” sign is taking up the entire bike lane.
it’s in the middle of the bike lane, dumbass.
It’s in the bike path…
umm…well…
the sign says watch for bikes..
but if you look closely it’s blocking the bike lane..
ironic much?
stop cheesing your mom!! haha
Right in the bike lane. Ironic.
It’s in the middle of the freakin’ bike lane forcing cyclist to move towards traffic.
The sign is telling the vehicles to watch for bikes, but it’s in the bike lane, forcing the bikers to get closer to the moving vehicles than they normally would.
It’s sort of in the bike lane…
The sign is blocking the bike lane.
@YourMom: The “watch for bikes” sign is blocking the bike lane, forcing bikes to swerve into the car lanes, thus making the drivers have to watch for bikes.
well, I’ll try to explain. They placed the “watch for bikes” giant sign right smack in the bike lane, which would cause any bikes to swerve into traffic to go around the “watch for bikes sign”
which begs the question: would you really have to do so much watching out for bikes if that sign were never put there?
What don’t you get, that the “Watch for Bikes” sign, that is supposed to be there for SAFETY, forces bicyclists into traffic to avoid it??
Umm…. It’s **IN** the bike lane? What’s not to get?
Brilliant, just (censored) brilliant!
We want drivers to be aware of bikes in the bike lane - so we put up a protable sign. But departmental standards require that it be set “as far to the right as possible”, and no-one, but no-one, noted this put it right in the middle of the bike lane it was supposed to be protecting!
It’s obvious the men that sited it are NOT, most emphatically, cyclists themselves.
I’d rather just have the lane, and take my chances. Only too often does someone get injured - not by a foe, but a friend, who’s “only trying to help”.
It’s in the bike lane…
Sigh… the sign is in the bike lane. So anybody on a bike would have to go around the sign, coming dangerously close to the freeway traffic - hence the sign, by its mere presence creates the very condition that it is there to warn about. This situation, in some circles, is referred to as being “ironic”. Moran.
You really don’t get it? How about putting the sign in the bike line so they can get run over by cars…
It’s in a bike lane…
the sign is obstructing the bike lane…
The sign is blocking the bike lane.
@ YourMom: Where on the road has the sign been placed?
Dear I don’t get it…
The sign “Watch for bikes” is BLOCKING the BIKE LANE.
its in the bike lane, genius.
@YourMom
the sign is blocking the bike lane…
Motorists wouldn’t have to watch for bikes if that big sign weren’t blocking the bike lane, forcing them into the road.
The sign is blocking the bike lane while reminding others to watch out for bikers
The obstruction is causing the need for the sign in the first place. It’s in the middle of the bike lane. So bikes will need to diverge with traffic to get out of the way of the sign.
Get it now?
Sigh… the “Watch for Bikes” sign is IN the bike lane…
Look where the sign is buddy..on the bike lane lol
The sign is obstructing the bike lane.
the sign is in the bike lane, causing bikes to swerve into the lanes reserved for cars to avoid it
Nah, neither did until I spotted that great big sign was actually *in* the bike lane!
Hilarity ensues.
The sign is in the bike lane forcing bikers to ride close to the car lane, creating humorous irony.
Look more closelier…
That’s gonna hurt.
Mom,
Some idiot put the sign right in the middle of a bike lane.
the sign is in the bike lane.
Me neither…
The sign is blocking the bike lane.
AHA! The sign is in the bike lane! How clever!
WTF? I like the way the sign - telling folks to watch for bikes’ - blocks the dang bike lane! Is it a test of some sort; make cyclists swerve around the sign, and hope motorists read the sign - and obey it it at the same time.
Too funny!
Look closely, it’s blocking the bike lane.
Later…
Richard
the sign is in the bikes lane…
The sign is in the middle of the bike lane, which means the cyclists would have to swerve towards the automobile lanes to go around it. Basically the sign is causing more of a hazard than the motorists.
Mom, the sign is blocking the bike lane.
dude its in the bike lane….stupid…
They’re doing it wrong.
The sign is blocking the bike lane. It forces cyclists to ride around it.
(Of course, the bike lane/road lane has a large buffer zone, so it’s not forcing the cyclists to go into the roadway proper, but it’s still funny.)
The sign is blocking the bike lane, when they could have easily moved it to the left.
I do!
the sign is in the bike lane.
pretend you’re riding a bike…
why does it take 50 people to explain the joke? you are all morons.
Please explain that again. I don’t get it.
The sign is blocking the bike lane!
The bike of lane it is in.
I still don’t get it, can someone explain?
Just in case nobody noticed and already pointed out this fact: the sign is in the bike lane.
HA! Nice. GREAT sign placement.
please i do not get what it is
I think that the sign is actually in the bike lane. It is right?
The sign that says watch for bikes is actually in the bike lane!
It’s like rai-ee-ain…. on your wedding day…
Oh… except that photo IS irony, not just dumb luck.
WHOA, Whoa, whoa, whoa-wa… IS the sign in the bike lane?
It’s funny because here we have, just above this comment,a hundred people “explaining the picture”,after the first one said “I don’t get it”!
It’s funny because there are no bikes in the picture.
The kind of help, that doesn’t help.
Wait, why is the sign in the bike lane?
I’ve read all the comments and I still don’t get it!`
Bike signs, they’re for lanes.
What’s REALLY funny about this, is that one guy at the beginning says “I don’t get it” and 50 people feel obligated to tell him that it’s funny because the sign is *in* the bike lane. That is irony.
I believe the electronic signalling board is within the very thoroughfare whose traffic it is behoved to forewarn!
It’s not funny cuz the sign is in the bike lane. Rather it is funny cuz it’s awkward to have a bike lane ON the HIGHWAY!!! Ay gooooooz
It is funny because there is a sign for Dana Point beyond it which has a sail boat on it, even thought the road is going uphill.
Either that, or the Watch for Bikes sign is blocking the bike lane, but that’s standard practice so why would it be funny?
Before anyone else comments that the sign is in the bike lane, I’d like to point out that one hundred people have ALREADY mentioned this!
the sign is in the bike lane, that’s why it is funny man. sheesh.
Is it just me, or is that electronic billboard blocking the very bike lane that it is supposed to be protecting?
At this point, I think we can safely say that Michael Phelps IS the bike lane.
You’re all a bunch of Jessies. Looks like a highway, i.e. no pedestrians or bicycles (do you see any of either?). I’m guessing they’re referring to *motor*bikes.
The sign is blocking the bike lane.
or not.
monster bike?
Is that a sign in the bike lane? It looks like a sign is in the bike lane.
What’s in the bike lane?
…so…what ya’ll saying is…the sign is IN the bike lane? Is that it? I don’t get it…where’s the bucket?
why would they place that sign in the bike lane?
When a sign and a bike lane love each other very much, they come together to make a signinabikelane.
The sign is in the bike lane. I wonder if someone moved the sign into the bike lane. Someone should really move that sign out of the bike lane. Perhaps that fat cop eating the turkey leg can move the sign out of the bike lane. As it is now, the sign is blocking the bikes.
The sign is parked across the entire bike lane.
When you see it you’ll shit bricks.
Everybody missed the point. Its a euphemism describing the road blocks that we all face in life. And finding unique solutions to problems that we face everyday.
The SIGN about watching for bikes is, um, in the bike lane, and that is blocking the bike traffic, so that’s, you know, kind of funny, I guess. Um, I think.
Obviously a case of “Do as I say, not as I do”…
or…
The complete message is:
“Watch for bikes”
- next page -
“hitting this sign”
but….I don’t see any bikes ??? wtf???
It’s a typo.
Dana Point is a popular community for people who live “alternative lifestyles”.
It was supposed to have read: “Watch For Dikes”.
===============SIGN=================== <- BIKE LANE
The reason that 50+ people responded to the question is that when we saw the question, there were zero (visible) responses. When we responded, we were told that our comment was awaiting moderation. And it looks like the moderation has come, bringing with it oodles of answers.
easy:
1. Bikes ride in Bike lanes
2. courtesy sign tells cars to be polite and watch for bikes
3. sign is a hypocrite for not following it’s own advice.
If the bikes would just stay in there own lane then they wouldn’t need a sign. Stupid bikers.
Huh? I don’t get it.
You are all missing the point!!!!
The person(s) who unhooked the sign from city truck and placed the sign along the road was just doing their job, they probably don’t ride a bike and was a complete over sight, it happens!!! We as a group of cyclists, need be thankful that someone in the city of “X” has the forsite to place a warning sign to alert motorists about bicyclists on the road…
Have a nice day!!!
Come on! You don’t need to ever ride a bicycle to understand that the sign is a hazard in itself.
Wowsers, best string of comments I’ve seen in a long time. Amazing how many different ways you can say “sign is in the bike lane”. Hehe, laughed alot at this one. Good job internet-swarm-of-idiots.
OMG THERE IS A SIGN ON THE BIKE LANEE!!!! SOMEBODY REMOVE THE SIGN!!!
what a bunch of knobs you are.
I still don’t get it……..
know what’s funny? 600 comments that say the same f$%king thing.
Thats Dana point, I’ve actually seen this before!
LMAO I drove by this sign a couple of days ago (can’t recall) anyways I’m glad someone took a picture cause it made me laugh.
It really pisses me off when someone blocks the bike lane, that’s MY lane, not just a convenient place to park.
